~ Lucy and Xena ~
Five years ago, Lucy welcomed Xena into her life. Since then, they have become best friends and have impacted each other hugely.
One of Lucy’s friends’ cats had recently had a litter of kittens. When she went to saw photos of them, she instantly fell in love with the only tortoiseshell kitten. Once the kitten was old enough, Lucy jumped at the chance to adopt her and name her Xena.
For as long as she can remember, Lucy has been a cat lover and her family has always had cats. However, to Lucy, Xena is different, special. They have become best friends, and they know they’re there for each other, Lucy can talk about anything with her furry friend, sometimes she even gets a response in the form of a meow! When she’s feeling sad, Xena senses this and comes running from wherever she may have been sleeping to comfort her human.
Having Xena has had a huge impact on Lucy. Her workplace is very high-pressure and can take a toll on her at the end of each day. However, at the end of each day, when she gets home, she’s always greeted by an excited kitty – this never fails to turn around a tough day.
For a while now, Lucy has struggled with chronic migraines. These impact her daily life and mean she has to stay in bed for periods of time. When she experiences a migraine, Xena joins her in bed, curls up and doesn’t leave her side. She lets Lucy know that she’s there and is looking after her.
Since adopting Xena, she and Lucy have created their own bedtime routine. Xena will go to bed and wait for Lucy. Once she’s in bed, Xena walks up to her, purring and, once she’s comfortable, lays down and places her paw on her human’s face. It’s time they get to enjoy together as it’s peaceful and shows the love they share.
Lucy and Xena share a beautiful bond. Through thick and thin, they’ve been there for each other. Since they met, Lucy and Xena have brought one another so much comfort, joy and love.
